A little bit about Jessica Wild
- I have been a Doula (helping women labor and deliver) in an official capacity since moving to Mesa, Arizona in April of 2000. (The term doula is simply a Greek word that means “woman servant.”)
- I have attended hospital births and home births.
- I have been at difficult births. I have been at effortless births.
- I’ve been at long and tiring births. I have been at fast, easy births.
- I’ve been at births with first time mothers and mothers with six previous children.
- I have been at my own four births: one in the hospital, one at home, one that we labored at home and delivered at the hospital and one that ended with an emergency cesarean.
- I have been unofficially and informally teaching women how to have babies and what to do with those babies once they are here for the last five years.
- I have been a birth advocate for as long as I can remember.
- I was raised on a farm and from my earliest memories, I have defended the birthing mothers’ right to privacy.
- I will barter, trade or accept services in payment if the couple cannot pay in cash, though cash is my preferred method of payment.
- I expect half of my fee to be paid upon contract signing and the rest two weeks prior to the birth of the baby.
